4x4manuel hubs not working/86 bronco

just bought my 1986 5.0 automatic 4x4 bronco and tried to take her mudding but she wouldnt go into 4x4...

Light shows on dash and it sounds like it, but no cigar......trucks been sitting 4 a long time with no use/ prob a good 6 months at least.....any help?> :((

get a friend and see if the drive shaft is spinning if its not then its not the hubs its the transfer case but if its spining then just rip the hubs out and replace them its pretty easy u just need a few tools like the hub socket and a allen key and one of those ring puller pliers it takes like and hour to redo each side and you can re pack the berings will ur in there. i did this and i had never done it before just dont force anything it should all slide apart smooth its realy messy so get some latex gloves oh and grease and the rear bearing seal and new hubs ur only talkin 100 bucks for parts

not the hubs then/ but i did get her in 4wd/ but 4w low is a motherfurr 2 get in and out of!! dont know what thats about? :-"

4x4 low is sometimes tring; put the beast in neutral or park and try again; try turning engine off; also maybe a light roll forward and do above again
