4x4 will not do its duty

I've been having problems with the 4wd in my 89 bronco for a few months now and have no idea whats wrong with it. The tranfer case was replaced a few years ago, the t-case motor has been replaced twice along with the dash switch just recently. When you push the button it just clicks, but if you take the bolts off of the t-case motor and hold it there while someone else pushes the button it engages. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem would be?

The motor has probably rotated & da travel stops may not be engaged in the 2WD mode causing it to move just out of range so that it won't engage 4WD again.

Also check the Contacts; clean as described;

Thanks a lot for the info, I really appreciate it. I took the motor apart and one of the six little metal srips were bent the wrong way. I just got done puting it on and it works perfect. This is the second motor I have gotten from O'reillys that didn't work properly. I guess i'll start shopping somewhere else for my parts. Thanks again for saving me from future headaches.
