I have a 1990 full size for bronco 4x4 automatic transmision, and found a really good deal on a 351 windsor engine. Can someone tell me how hard i would be to swap engines, and would my stock transmision be compatiable with the 351?

A few more details would be helpful. 1990 Bronco's have electronic fuel injection. Does the replacement 351 also have fuel injection? The E4OD auto trans has some electronic controls that need to be present for it to shift properly.

Physically, yes, they'll fit. It's the wiring and and the computer controls where you'll have to do your homework.

IF the 351 is from a f series or bronco and was also automatic then it is a direct swap as far as motor mounts and transmission. if its efi then you need to find a computer for the 351 and your trans, there are different comps depending on if you have the AOD, or E40D becuase the E4OD has the electronic shift control that bebop mentioned.

the 351 and 302 or 5.8 and 5.0 use the same sensors and the same wiring harness, but the computers are programmed differently for the different fuel demand and air flow.

if the 351 is not an efi you can do what I said above about the comps, as well as put the required sensors, intake/ throttle body, and fuel rail if you wish to make it efi.

otherwise there are also ways to convert your bronc over to carb.

But with all that in mind, Why do want to swap out your 302? its alot of work for not much improvement if you just want the stock power increase.
