Finally bought one. It just happened to have a 351. Nothing like driving a bronco!!! I'll try to post pics later.

A 5speed actually gets better gas mileage in a Bronco than an auto.. Just sayin..

Have a 89 Eddie  Bauer 5.0 that was my dads from new. Truck has been awesome trouble free all these years. Asked my dad to buy the buy it with 5.8 but only had the 5.0 on the lot and dad wasn’t coming home without it! That being said I have just stripped out good running 5.0 and am going to build it into a 347. Rebuilding AOD and Borg Warner 1356. I have had 351w and 351 c all great engines. If my 5.0 block wasn’t in perfect shape I would start with 351 w block, but my opinion is if you have a 5.0 you can easily build 400+ lbft torque which is more than a stock 351 had. Yeah you can do the same to the 351 but now you probably will need to strengthen everything in the drive train after 500 hp. Also am going to convert speed density EFI to mass air flow.

9Yo RSS,

Welcome!

Here are the 1989 EVTM, Emissions & Pre-Delivery Manuals, Partial via mrnewland1 in Google Drive @ https://drive.google.com/drive/mobil...?usp=drive_webSlow scrolling for me with lousy Comcast service.. Find page # of item desired in contents, then flip screen flip down like spinning a bearing (a no-no) then stopping periodically to see which page you're on.Suggest you download for faster scrolling and to use the table of contents index.1989 Bronco Dealer Brochure @ 1989 Ford BroncoFree registration for some wiring diagrams (86 through 96) and Technical Service Bulletins, (80 through 96), same as by Ford @ BBB Industries- Premium Alternators, Starters, Power Steering Products | TSB's & Wiring Diagrams

In 1996 we were seeking a new vehicle. We had Fords in the past, from a Galaxie 500, ****** GT, Mustang GT, Aerostar & to a 78 Bronco. We considered vans and cars but decided to go with a 4x4 for beach fishing, some trail runs and getting to work in snow. Made the car lot tour and read many reviews and specs then checked out a new 96 Bronco XL 5.0, a new 96 Blazer and a new 96 Tahoe When we checked NHTSA's Safety Information we bought the Bronco XL! See Attached NHTSA SAFETY RATINGS!We paid 18.4 or .7 + tax for it thanks to a $5K factory discount and intense bargaining. Dealer is a ok and threw in factory body side mouldings, floor mats, $10.00 oil/**** changes for 3 years and finally a large plushie bear for our grandchildren.Chevvie dealers refused to chop discounts for more than $2K. They should have provided pre-paid life insurance policies!attachment.gif

The 5.0 was last Bronco on the lot, other dealers were too far away and tgey had just the 5.0 left.
We should have shopped earlier in order to purchase a 5.8  mainly because it wasn't built with the secondary air injection system (smog pump, TAB & TAD solenoids combo TAB/TAD Valve, check valve, vacuum linestgat run behind intake manifold and along rocker covers and fade away due to engine heat, etc.) .
My slight rant is because I had to purchase a remanufactured smog pump and new check valve yesterday! I've waited six months before one became available at any parts store from the sole rebuilder, Cardone.  Tried to rebuild the original,  however it was frozen.
Bottom line is that the 5.0 has run flawlessly! No internal issues at all.
Only had to replace DPFE Sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC).
Still have a very slight main seal leak, that hasn't changed in 15 years, which is not the norm.
