I talked to a bronco owner the other day and he said that the 302 was not as good a motor as the 351. I am looking for a 95-96 Bronco and wanted to know the facts. What do you experts think?

Both engines are great baseplants. The possibilities are nearly endless for both. Its just that the 5.0 is a little easier to come by,but I would recomend either.....but thats just my opinion

The 351 obviously has a few more cubes, but both engines can be run up into the 400+ HP range. They are great engines and there is a lot of aftermarket support for both.

Good luck,

:)>-

I've got a 5.0 and it does pretty well, it will throw your head back if you gas it. However I wish that I had gotten a 5.8 simply because its better for mud bogging. But the 5.0 is a great engine for around town and for trail, not to mention that its alittle better gas mileage.

I agree with the others, either engine is acceptable and can be modified for a lot more horspower than what came stock. I say find a truck that you like, and that is mechanicaly sound and don't be too concerned with which power plant it has. Either one will get you there quickly (and they both **** on gas milage) :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

Something like 20 hp difference between the two stock so it wont matter all that much
i have had both and really like my 351 now , dont get me wrong you can build up a 302 EASILY but why do that when you can build the 351 up just the same , it does a **** of alot better in thick clay it seems than my 302 it doesnt bogg down near as much and can pull anything out cause the pullin power is great ... but like some say the gas milage is killin me ,, but i didnt but this thing to save the planet i bought it to have fun . the consiquences of a good time is alot of money..

The only gas mileage I ever worried about in the Bronco was how far it was from the local Mexican restaraunt to my house. Especially when my driver's side window motor went out. :-& Oh - wait - is that not what ya'll were talking about?

Hey I have a 302 5.0 in my 95XLT I bought it 2 years ago with 149.000 I have 159.000 on it now the 5.0 is a pretty strong engine allways starts (fingers crossed) and never left me stranded like everyone said if you want a Bronco, gas mileage should n't be a thought thats like wanting to get a 100 mile to a gallon in an Abrams tank Good Luck

A 302 is a great engine. So is the 351w, it doesnt really matter how much power your engine has if you are spinning the tires. But I am into overkill, I want a 460 in mine, then at least I am not left wanting. I hate wanting.

id assume since the 351 is a bigger motor it would be able to produce more torque

I have a 302 in by bronco and it has a lot of power between 0-70, but doesn't quite have the highway passing power that my friends 351 did. Don't get me wrong my truck will go 95+ but it just takes alot longer getting there. I personally wish that I had held out for a 351.
