My Hurst shifter is due to be delivered tomorrow. I'm hoping it will have decent instructions. Any tips I should know or things I should watch out for?

Hay Astro.., good move..!

It's pretty straight forward... It doesn't hurt to read the instructions completely first., & study the "blow-up" pic.

Then do the project with the directions layed there on the floor.

(I didn't do it but there's a way to hook up the back-up lights switch.)

In some cases., the rods that run to the trannie rub on the bottom of the floorboard bulkhead/stiffener. Some folks cut a notch there to allow more room.

The shifters are "spring loaded" going fr. 1st. to 2nd. meaning as you move out of 1st.., it pops to the right when it hits neutral.... that way, it's just straight up to 2nd.... then straight down for 3rd.

There's stop-bolts so you can't go too far with the throws. However ea. gear needs to "click" into its notch on the trannie... i.e. completly in gear.

Prob. need a cut-off wheel on your Makita grinder to open up the floorboard.

Hope this doesn't scare ya....

Too late to be scared now, the FedX guy just drove off. :unsure:Actually I did one of these to a '54 Chevy when I was a teenager, and a '66 Malibu when I was in my twenties. Neither of those times could I actually afford a Hurst, and of course neither were 4WD. Just hoping to get some tips and warnings EB-specific because I'd like to know them now before I actually run into them!

Once again, Thanks for the help!
