I need to change the left rear axle on my 86 bronco 11. Can someone give me a step by step on how to do this? I heard it is not difficult. I think this axle is an 8.8. I am going to a "you pull it yard this week. Thanks
That axle is a 7.5 ford rear end only the ones with 4.0 had the 8.8 and thier very rare . What you have to do is pull the cover roll the diff around till you see the spider pin retaining bolt it should be 5/16 now pray that it comes out without breaking . If it does pull it out and slide the spider gear pin out do not turn the diff after this . Now push the axle in and you will see a big C clip on the end of the axle shaft . Take this clip off and the axle will pull out . If yours has started leaking oil they make a repair bearing that moves the bearing surface farther in on the axle . If you have a V8 or beat on the truck alot you should seriously consider putting a ford explorer rear end in your truck they are 2 inches wider not a big deal but they are the 31 spline 8.8 just like whats in a half ton truck ( bronco / F150 ) You wont break that well no where as easily /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
