Well I'm not sure at all what you mean by "go metric" but here are your options if you want an OD in your truck. You can swap in an OD transmission, the AOD would be my first choice because it's a straight mechanical OD tranny and doesn't require any input from any sort of processor or sensors. The AOD is essentially a next-generation C6. To be perfectly honest I'm not sure off the top of my head if it's bellhousing has the 351M/400 bolt pattern on it or not but even if it doesn't I'm sure someone like Advanced Adapters will have one. IF you want to get all complicated and $hit you can run an AOD-E or an E4OD but both of those will not only need adapters but stand-alone processors in order to shift correctly (unless of course you swap in the matching engine & processor combo. If it goes in as a package you're fine). The AOD is far & away the best option available to you but if for reasons of your own you don't want to go that way you can always bolt in a Gear Vendors OD unit *behind* the transfer case (which only gives you OD in 2WD but unless you're racing it you shouldn't need to split the gears in 4WD) but given the Bronco's short wheelbase this will probably necessitate a custom shortened twin-CV joint driveshaft and maybe even lowering the tranny/OD unit/Xfer case to make the driveline angles work. If it were a longbed F-truck you'd have a lot more room to work with but it's not & you don't. The AOD should be your first choice unless you're some sort of pain freak.
