my 76 measures 8 1/2 inches from the top of the front axle to the bottom of the frame and in the rear it measures 7 inches from top of the axle to the bottom of the frame. the previous owner put a new yellow coil with double shocks on the front but the back looks untouched. there are no lift blocks and the leaf springs are a 6 pack rusted up. do i have a lift ? should i put a lift block to even it up or what is normally done? i do have a winch on the front and the rear area i have the usual trail tools so im loaded to my running weight.

You have a 1" lift in the front & nothing in the rear. As far as lifting the rear an inch, step back and look at it. If it looks goofy to you, then go for it. It doesn't have any effect on the geometry of the suspension as it is sitting and it won't do any harm leaving it until you get a new quality lift. And by quality, I mean getting one from BC, WH, Cage, Duff, or JBG. Not a Rancho, Sky Jacker or Superlift one.

Just curious, what do you have against Skyjacker? Ive heard lots of good about how they perform off road, and i havent seen anything bad about any trucks ive been in/driven with Skyjacker lifts.

thanks i stood back and looked at it hard and suprisingly it looks level. i believe the previous owner never completed the work on the rear. when i have the funds i will get a good lift on it.

Of the three that I said not to get, flip a coin between Sky Jacker & Superlift, they are probably the better and more comparable. Rancho is absolute garbage, other than their shocks because they sell lift blocks with their kits and they are pretty incomplete. The Sky Jacker has some of the better of the three springs, but still they don't, and can't, compete with what the Bronco parts houses have developed. Namely Cage. The best of those three though is going to be the Superlift. It comes with the most complete package, but it also sells lift blocks. My problem isn't the product, it is the assembled kit. I think lift blocks are dangerous and their failure rate, although low, is substantially higher than what a proper new lifted leaf spring is. The Bronco companies, Wild Horses, BC, James Duff, Jeff's and, in particular, Cage all have better kits sold by people who deal with Broncos on a daily basis. They peddle the kit designed properly & by someone who uses it. If you want an unbelievable lift, get a Cage kit. It will blow your mind. Flexibility is beyond any of the others, ride quality is extremely smooth and they were designed by someone who knows the vehicle inside and out.

Plane and simple, if you bought me one of those three kits and I had the option of getting one of the Bronco company kits at a discount with my money, I would spend the money and buy one of the better ones. The box store kits can't hold a candle to the others, and I will bet you that you can't find a single EB guy to argue otherwise. By the way, the first lift I ever put on my EB was a Rancho, would never do that again.

Just happened on this post.....

The frame arc (from a side view) is higher at the front axle than the rear....prob. 1-2" or more.

That's why you're even.

Yes.., stay with the "Bronco" store lifts....I did & the 11-pack rear springs are the ticket...... B)
