I have been workin on my 1969 ford bronco for about a year and a half and i finally got it running. the only problem that i have been coming across is that the shifting cable keeps laying on the transmission and catching on fire this would be the second one i am replacing and i would like to know how to install it correctly or if there is a bracket im missing.

any response will be greatly appreciated

Hi "wasted".., welcome..! >:D< <'>

1st., you'll be better served here by providing complete info. (at least all that you are aware of). A lot left to assumption...

Assuming you have an auto trans & purchased some brand of floor shifter..?

Do you mean "ON FIRE" as in..... blue/yellow flames...??

If the trannie gets that hot...there's some serious issues here. /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Shifter should have had some instructions...?

Let's assume during this 1 1/2 yrs. you installed some headers...?

Any cables/wires/hoses close to these exh. pipes will distort/melt. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

(stock pipes will do this also)

Again, don't be afraid to completely explain a problem & all that's related.

There are no wrong/bad/stupid questions on this site..., just incomplete clues at times. Help us help you.. :-B

I feel for ya...,

That's dangerous on soooo many levels. The only thing under there that gets hot enough to start a fire is the exhaust..!! (with the exception of an electrical short)

W/O pictures.., we're flying blind here..! You installed it..., only you know the routing.

I had one veh. that I installed the "rachet" shifter... I zip-tied the cable in a few places to prevent floping/scruffing & exhaust damage.

Other than that, it's "by-me" ..., maybe others here have some ideas..?

Good luck..,

B
