I have a 1967 Bronco that has the 3 speed on the column. I have a 1988 Bronco that I'm parting out but it has a good zf 5-speed transmission in it. Do I need to buy an adapter kit to install it in my 1967 Bronco? I figured that if I pull the 5 speed from the 88' with the transfer case from the 88' then I would not need to buy the adapter kit. Is there any reason why the transfer case from the 88' wouldn't work in my 67'? I was thinking that I could also take the hydraulic clutch assembly from the 88' & would the cross member match up? What else is involved with the swap?

Hi Smith,

IMHO this is not an easy task. :-"

If you haven't already, I would research the ratios of ea. 5sp. gear. It's likely you'll end up using only 3.., depending on your usage of your rig.

(4-5 speeds req. a lot of shifting or what I call -- "churn'n butter")

Assume we're talking V/8 here..., so there may be a need for a different bellhousing (or adaptor). The dr. shafts may need cut/lengthened as needed, as well as cross-member mods.

Check with ADVANCED ADAPTORS. They may have the info. you need.
