I had the stock thermostat the 192* and my Bronc' was running upwards of the L on "NORMAL" so I installed a 160*. Now my guage barely gets to the N on a hat day? Is this a bad sign or does this just mean my motor gets to run cooler than most? Also, I have a new mech. guage for the temp, can I put it in the side of the block so I have an engine temp instead of just what's coming out of the thermostat? Thanks for all the help guys and gals!

You are just running cooler, thats all. If you put in a colder temp thermostat, it may interfere with your emissions equipment (coolant temp sensor basically) the computer will think that the engine is not warmed up enough and may make the engine run richer. I changed mine in my F350 and the truck ran better, I was able to advance the timing more and get more power without the engine pinging. I plan to do the same in the Bronco but am going to finish the other projects on it before I start another. You should be fine in this chang over to a cooler stat... I never ran into any problems with mine.......
