Water bypass tubes on throttle body

Hello All,

I recently found coolant leak around the throttle boy and traced the leak to the 2 tubings that stick out at the top and bottom of the throttle body.

I have looked all over the Internet and have contacted Ford dealers and can't seem to locate this part anywhere.

I am hoping that someone can help me located this part for my Bronco.  Planning to take a road trip to Utah and need it fixed soon.

My Bronco is:

1990 Eddie Bauer version

351 Windsor

Automatic Transmission E4OD

The attached photo shows a similar throttle body with good bypass tubing.

The best bet is a local friendly auto parts recycler, in the mean time you should be able to operate OK with it bypassed.  You may get lucky and find someone on the forum that has done a carburetor conversion and doesn't need theirs any more.

I have been running mine with out those hoses hooked up now for two years without any problems.

Thanks Seabronc and Elmo.  I am going to go and visit Ace Hardware this weekend.  They have never failed me.  I maybe able to rig a copper tubing and make it work.  If I get one, I will come back and share with you Elmo.  Thanks again.

Would you guys know of a good replacement throttle body that I can buy? 

I am planning to buy the Edelbrock Performer Intake #3881 at some point and Edelbrock recommends using a 56mm Twin Throttle Body #3837 with their Performer Intake. 

I don't know who makes one that will mount on my existing intake manifold without having to modify much.

Can you recommend one?

"...The stock Bronco Throttle Body is 51mm.

The BBK #3501 is a 56mm Throttle Body.

The BBK #3503 is a 61mm Throttle Body used with high RPM applications and 460 engines. It also requires port matching to the intake manifold and a tune correction prior to installation.
Get the 56mm BBK #3501 and use a new IAC and Throttle Body Gasket (BBK 1570 or Felpro 60845 - MIESK5 NOT, ensure that these PN's are still applicable to your 90 5.8)). Be sure your TPS and IAC are still servicable or replace them. For those that think their OEM Throttle Body is still servicable, I did noticed a significant difference compared to my 20+ year old worn TB.
The Edelbrock Intake Manifold 3881 will give you a big boost..."

Coolant is for preventing throttle blade freeze as mentioned, but it is also vital for cooling the transmission oil. Everybody ignores that fact and wonders why they smoke their transmission a few tens of thousands of miles later.
Top hose goes to the filler neck, bottom is the coolant source from the metal fitting that screws into the intake manifold (look where the heater hose and ECT sensor go, there's a 3/8-inch ****** on it).
There is ZERO coolant flow through the radiator if the thermostat isn't open. Also, your torque converter isn't locked in stop-and-go traffic. Having a bunch of stagnant water sitting around the oil cooler isn't going to help cool the oil if the water isn't moving..."

Wow miesk6, thanks for your reply. Greatly appreciate it. I will just put the original throttle body back on the Bronco and plug the sources. Later this fall, I will buy the Edelbrock's Performer Intake and BBK 3501 throttle body and install them. I might even change out the cam, lifters and the heads. I need more power to pull my Airstream.

Here is what I did to remedy the problem.

First I removed the old rusty pipe and tapped the hole with 3/8 pipe thread then I went to ACE Hardware and purchase pipe fittings and made my own tubing.

It works like a charms.

I have replaced all the coolant hoses, thermostat, thermostat housing and the water pump.  I should be good shape for my trip to Zion National Park later this month.

Im probably a little late but a savvy no nonsense person might read this. I used RTV marine gasket maker (red tube) and recreated the gaskets. No leaks anymore /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> And that was for a turbo charged Saab! I traded that for my Bronco ;D
