I have a 1983 Full size ford bronco with dana 44 scisor axle..

I want to change my front scisor axle to a dana 44 straight axle.

What year should i take the axle out of and does anyone know what the gear ratio in the ford 8.8 was in 83?

Should i try get a certain year of axle that will just bolt right in? What year would that be.

Thanks

Probably something from a late 70's model F250. Look on the safety compliance sticker on the driver side rear door post. There is an axle code listed there. However, that is only good if the gear ratio hasn't been changed. There is also a tag on the differential that lists the gear ratio. If you are doing much with lifts and tire size, you will probably end up changing that anyway.

the '78-'79 Broncos and F-150's had straight axles. Cage Offroad has conversion kits.
