The rear main oil seal is leaking on my 74 Bronco (302). Can it be replaced without pulling the engine? Any tips?

Yes it can be done without pulling the engine.Drop the oil pan,Best thing to do is take all the main bearing caps loose, just by a few turns,Take the rear main cap off, usually the old roap seal is hard as a rock, and generally comes out easy, there is a rear seal remover and installer you can buy,but you shouldn't need it.I recomend using the neoprene style when replacing it.Soak it in oil,or just wipe it down with some fresh oil, slide the new seal in,it may be necessary to spin the engine over while doing this, you will leave about a 1/4" or so out, if ya have a manual it will tell you how much to leave hangin out,do the same with main cap side also.when reinstalling be sure to use some rtv black on each end of the seal also along the seam of the block where the main cap seats.snug the main cap but do not torque it,Tighten all the mains in sequence according to the manual,or start in the center workin from one main cap to the next, alternating from front to back.go over them 1 more time check your torque.Put the oil pan back on with a fesh gasket and you should be good to go.
