I've got a restorable '69 that I just lifted 3.5", cut... and installed 33x12.50's. The rockers are rusted up to about 1 - 1.5 inches below the thresholds (which are in good condition). I don't want to buy new rocker panels and then just cover them up with rock skis ($$$). However, I want my rig to look nearly restored, but with a stock looking rock slider so it's still worthy. Can someone show me a suitable solution? I'm thinking where maybe someone welded the rock skis to the sheetmetal of the rocker panels and painted... Pictures would be especially appreciated. I've only seen the Rock Ski solution, perhaps there's something that would work better.

Cheers,

Jake

Here's a pic of my rig (before mods)...

There is no way to stop rust except cut it out. I don't know how much that will leave you, but if you don't want to put new metal in place of it, you can use POR15's 3 step process to preserve what remains. There are other products on the market, but in my openion, even though POR's method is more work it is also a better process. I have used it and am very satisfied with the result I also relace all removed metal. http://www.por15.com

Good luck,

:)>-

Jake, the best way to solve this problem is to shave the rockers where the rust is at and put on a set of skiis.

here is an example of one type from a guy down here in the springs. I have his prototype EB bumpers and they are a very good product.

As far as what they look like on an EB, the second picture (above and to the left of the blue scout) is a blue EB with them on. It is a clean installation and does look nice. As far as making it look "original" you could also shave the rear corner posts so that the body line is even with the cut rockers. Something like I did with mine, only I didn't cut the rockers.

This is the best picture of what I have of mine showing the rear corner posts shaved.

Just cut them out and replace. Many vendors have them in stock or you can cut out and weld in rock skis. In your case you should replace them with new metal rockers.
