just picked up a nice 76 early bronco. I want to take the hard top off for the remainder of summer. Is there somewhere that describes how to take the hard top off (with a few friends)?

Taking the hard top off is pretty easy. If you have a headliner, remove that so that you can get to the bolts on the windshield frame. There will be about 8-10 bolts on the windshield frame and about the same number on the bed rails. There are also 4 bolts on each rear corner that are bolted to the pegs that go down into the bed rails. Once you have those out, you need 2 buddies to help out. Get one guy on each rear corner and then you stand in the bed and lift it out. Pretty simple. They weigh about 250 lbs. so I wouldn't try it on your own unless you enjoy pain.

It's definitely a 3 person job. I just took mine off. It had never been removed if you can believe that. Took some wrestling to get those rear pegs out of the bed slots. Also, on my first attempt, I missed a bolt in the windshield frame that was hidden behind the wiper motor. Needless to say, I didn't get it off on that first try. In case its not obvious to you, start by removing the wiper motor cover. You'll need to do that in order to get to all of the windshield frame bolts.

Teardown_049.jpgHi Bronco Guys

I was able to lift the top off mine by myself using 4 cargo staps hung from hooks in the garage cealing. In fact I was able to lift the body core off the frame the same way. Just gradually work up all 4 corners a little bit at a time untill the whole thing is clear. Put it back on the same way
