Sorry to hijack, but BullyBob, can you elaborate on the "Y" steering vs "T" steering systems, please? I have a 76 Bronco with a 3.5" lift and she wanders on occasion. Thanks.

Hi 1921..,

Beings this was in Rusty's post ---sure.

The "T" style was on the older EB's. The Tie-bar runs straight across knuckle-to-knuckle.

This is strong & lasts a long time.

The "inverted Y"  has a bar runn'n from the dr. side knuckle up to the drag-link.

The drag-link runs from the pitman arm to the pass. side knuckle.

For some reason.., this design weakens after a while, & doesn't seem to like lifts.

It did give a bit more clearance.

Most of the new style "T" designs have "3-way adjustment" which allows centering the

right/left turning, toe-in, then leveling the steering wheel.

Unless your "Y" set-up is sloppy, your issues may be , toe-in, ball joints, tire condition,

wheel balance, the steering box,  OR one or more of these.

ALSO.,

After all the lift mods, steering re-builds..,  the tracking bar needs to run parallel to the drag-link,

or nearly so.  (that may already the case)

If it isn't, you'll need a track bar drop bracket  OR  the axle mod that raises the track bar up off

the axle.

A track bar out of alignment will cause bump steer.., which isn't much fun.

James duff is currently out of stock on the adjustable drag link on the t-type steering, any recommendations on a heavy duty drag link or are all the specifications the same on this part no matter where you get it
