Used consoles show up on e bay often
Some use Tuffy Steel Security Consoles. We have one and it is great esp. when you need to secure valuables..(let them take the entire Bronco, bec. they'll have trouble getting in this console).
Powdercoating has lasted extremely well despite abuse.
12.5" model is a perfect fit for 79 as well
12.5" W, 24 " L, 12" H - one bolt hit the x-member (think it was the X...must look again soon), so I switched it w/a shorter length.
Some cruise yards and pull them out from all types of makes. Use the Tuffy dimensions as a guide.
Check around for prices...some stores sell them cheaper than the Tuffy site.
