What Did you Do With Your Bronco Today???

My Red '91 got a new heater core today.

Also changed out my 180°F Stat for a Hi-flow 195°F stat. The 180° thermostat was just too cool for my 351. It was always in the 160 to 170 range. Even in the summer the Bco ran too cool. This resulted in some issues with my EEC jumping in and out closed loop. With the new 195° the throttle response is smooth.

i"Well earlier this week I was warming up the Bronco for work. I kicked the heater on high, when all the sudden LOTS of smoke filled the cabin of the truck. It smelled like burning leaves and really scared the crap out of me. I turned the truck off and opened the doors to air it out (I was about two seconds from calling the fire department), luckily it just smoked some leaves and didn't catch fire. I logged on here and searched. In no time I was at Steve83's supermotors page looking at the culprit. This is old hat to alot of you veterans, but this is my third fsb and I never had this crap happen before. The problem is leaves and small twigs fall through the cowl vent and create a tender box in the hvac system. When the leaves build up on the resistor next to the blower motor, they can catch FIRE off the heat of the resistor. So here's a little how to that anyone can do:
First remove your blower motor, you'll need a 5/16 socket to loosen the four screws, and it will easily pop out.
Once the blower is out of the way, you'll be able to scoop/vacuum out all the debris. Reach your arm all the way down the inner fender to get all the crap out, just try to get your hand in every nook and cranny the leaves could've got into.

Next, use your 5/16 to remove the resistor (The red thing) so you can clean it real good

Re-install the resistor, and hook the two plugs back in.

Re-install the blower motor and your done!

Since I bought thi,s the a/c and heat barely came out the vents, now it blows good and strong. twotu.gif "

I finished hanging the rear differential, (you should hang the sway bar before hand), that took a bit to get started.  Then thought I was gonna have to get my diesel hammer after the RS brake shoes.  The white stuff in the rear is some sort of toxic substance that grew under the cardboard and spare tire these last 2 years!  Had to pull the rear window motor to get the rear window down, its pretty tight may be binding after getting hit.   What surprised me was the right side tail light, it went right in once I got the tail gate down! 

Still need to get it inspected and then file for a salvage title! 

P.S. Life was easier in the days with the drive on lift, but that 6am completion time each morning was rough!

That's it!😎

I need a smog pump now.  But since new, no engine nor E4OD issues except for a DPFE, two O2 & TAD sensors; 4WABS module (jumpered it out); two muffler hangers; shocks (3 times); ball joints (twice); gas tank and leaf spring hangers.

It's been our best vehicle ever!

BTW, all because we maintain it according to Ford's Severe Duty Schedule  ++ +

No photos for this update but I did get around to relocating the IAT sensor on the '91 from the SD position to the MAF position. Throttle response is a little crisper now. Makes me smile. Week before last I took the Bco in to our local drive line shop. They have done great work for my family in the past so I wasn't shy about letting them  on my vehicle. I know that the u-joints on the rear drive line were all shot so I had the fronts replaced too. (gotta do 1 might as well do them all). I also requested that the balance of both get checked. The front was perfect as expected, but the rear needed to be re-weighted. $450 later and it rides so smooth now. No more stupid vibration. Money well spent.

Put a g3 in the Centurion. Got the alt from a Pull-A-Part yard in Boise. $20 and it works.

Did new Powerstop brake pads on the '91. Also took the rear drums off and drove them across town to have them look'd at. After only 2 oil changes worth of miles they were warped. had them re surfaced and now the vibration in the rear is gone.

I use Motorcraft brake parts since we purchased our 96 New. No issues except for me defunct dealer's decision to let their Dodge dealership install the rotors h7bs incorrevtly.

The Motorcraft parts are actually supplied by MAT Holdings,  parent to ther manufacturing entity, GRI Engineering for brake pads, shoes, shims, back plates, discs, calipers.

The Powerstop Pads are great after the bed in process. The Drums were from O'reilly. I've never had a heat issue with my brakes so I don't know how they warped. Oh well all better now.

Some have no proper upbringing.
