The length may cause the valve to remain open when it should be closed. Have these push rods been used on this specifis engine before ? i tourq the rockers with a tourq wrench one bolt at a time lol.

no the ones that came out were a quarter inch shorter I didn't think a tenth of an inch would make that much difference and I tourqed them down one at a time too and to 25 ft lbs is that right??

Hey Eagle,

5.0 or 5.7?

My info tells me the stock length is 6.272 for a roller 302.

Give us the specific situation that you are working on.  Are these rods from an engine that was previously rebuilt?...are the heads changed?...other modifications? Is this the first teardown on the engine?

There can be a reason for the longer push rods, but we need to know ALL the info on the engine.

sorry took so long to get back but its the 5.8 and the rod length is supposed to be 7.567 I think and the closest I can find is 7.523 without paying 200.00 for a set

Yes 5.8 has the longer push rods. assuming you have the pedestal rockers 7.567.   How are you measuring the pushrods?  Sometimes the measuring tool contacts the inner depression of the chamfered ball on the ends. This will result in an incorrect measurement.

You never explained why you have a need to replace the pushrods.
