Hey all,

New user for the most part here. I have a chance to buy an AX-15 5 speed for my 1967 Bronco. What I'm hopeing someone can help me with is.... I have a 289 out of a 67 mustang to rebuild and install in it and no transmission yet. I really would like to put a 5 speed in ( my wife really does not like to drive stick :-") If I can install this tranny in the Bronco, is there a bellhousing I can buy without having to use an adapter? or should I just buy the adapter and move the shifter hole further back? This is a work in progress, and would really appreciate any and all help I can get.

Thanks!

Talk to Advanced Adaptors.., they may have what you need.

Isn't that a Jeep I-4/I-6 trannie..? If you hop-up the 289 V8..., not sure that trannie is strong enough.
Thanks, I'll give them a call and see what goes [-o< , I don't plan on building up the 289 much, maybe a bit past stock but not by far.

I just bought a bunch of parts from a guy locally he has a 302 efi from a mustang in his jeep and he uses it for snow wheeling up here in BC Canada. Long story short he had an ax-15 and he blew it up. it is the 4 and 6 cyl transmission for pre-2000 jeep wranglers. the post 2000 wrangler has the nv3550 trans which is pretty much just the beefed up ax-15. Its rated at 300 horsepower, that's what i'm putting in mine and what you should use if you're planning on running a stock type engine with around 300 hp or less. Any more hp you're better off going ZF, NV 4500, or the np435. This guy is building a beefed up auto to go in with a nitrous kit in his jeep so i scored all the manual parts super cheap. I bought the advance adapters kit for the swap, it is so simple to install all the parts with it and the drive-line length is only 1/4 inch shorter than stock so unless your lifting huge you don't need to change the drive shafts.

here is a pic i literally just finished putting my transmission on my engine

That looks so good! I wish I was to that point! I was looking at putting a NV3550 on mine but to find one is not cheap. I've found them on EBAY with the kits for around $2K with shipping and a warrenty.

I so wish I could stumble onto something like that! My budget is getting so low now that I might not be able to buy a vowel anymore!! I was looking on Craislist today and was contimplating getting a C-6. Someone has one for sale with the small block bellhousing for $150. not to far away from me. I was thinking that I could do that for now and when I get a couple credit cards paid off I could buy the NV3550 and swap it all out.

If your in the States your lucky, auto parts are soooooo cheap. In Canada lordco auto parts wants $407 for just a ring and pinion and that's with my 30% discount. Most parts if i buy from wildhorses or toms cause they are on the west coast are still cheaper with shipping and duties then if i buy local.
