alright im looking around to see what i have as far as options for a center console. im not looking to have an ultra indestructible one just a basic one. is it worth it to build one? are their parts available for the little "locking" mec to hold it closed? any ideas would be awesome

yo guitarfreek92,

Look in my site @ INTERIOR; console, floor section @ http://www.broncolinks.com/index.php?index=295

for many Fabrication LINKS

The "locking" mec is usually no more than a desk drawer lock

Tuffy Security Products Series II Security Console (12.5" wide).

Exterior Dimensions:

24"Long (including cup holder), 12 1/2"Wide, 18 1/2"High (includes 4" mounting bracket), 3 1/2" Holes for drinks.

Interior Dimensions:

(Length is Tapered) 15 1/2"L(top), 20"L(bottom), 12"W, 12"H

This high security 16 - gauge steel console has all the features of the Deluxe Stereo Security Console, except it does not include the separate stereo compartment, therefore leaving more overall storage space.

Rubber floor mat is included.

Features Include:

-Durable texture powdercoat

-Removable tray

-Rubber floor mat

-Pry-guard II locking system with hardened steel latch

-Convenience storage tray

-Anti-rattle drink fingers

-Grade 8 mounting hardware

-Polypropylene seat belt straps

-Added security with pin-lock hinge design

-Weather resistant lid design incorporates exclusive hinging system with built-in lid stop

-New! Increased padded arm rest height for added comfort

-Anti-twist push button lock system (patent pending)

it is great esp. when you need to secure valuables..(let them take the entire Bronco, bec. they'll have trouble getting in this console).

Powdercoating has lasted extremely well despite abuse.

12.5" model is a perfect fit.

.

Check around for prices...some stores sell them cheaper than the Tuffy site.

Some pics in my SF Bronco site for console's location relative to driver's seat

I also have a Graybar type hinged steel electr. uttity box that is ~ 12"x12" x 4" high in front of the console for other things incl change tapes, disksetc.; it has a piano hinge as well and a key lock
