Going to get a rebuilt carburetor for my 74 Bronco with a 302 engine. It's got the Motorcraft 2100 2-v carburetor. Been looking at the web pages for several companies in the US. Since I live in Europe, I'll have to buy a rebuilt carburetor rather then having the one on my Bronco rebuilt. The waiting time will bee too long. Been checking out these companies; http://www.carburetorexchange.com , http://www.nationalcarburetors.com ,

http://www.carbsonly.com . Anybody out there have a review on any of these companies and the quality of their procucts? Since I live where I do, I need to make my purchase from a reliable vendor. Thanks, janroger64.

Hi Jan.,

No one is answering., nor am I familiar with those rebuilders.

I can tell you., it's best to have yours re-built if the throttle shaft is NOT wobbly & the top screws aren't stripped.

That's a good carb. choice. It's real easy to re-build.

Trading for a re-built is a "luck of the draw" ....it's likely you'll get a good one, but who knows.

Lastly, R/U sure the carb is the problem...?

Swapping in another carb., & the performance still isn't there, you then have to fig. out if you got a bad carb., or the problem is elsewhere. :-B

Hi Bob. Thank's for your answer. The reason I'm looking for another carb is that gas is leaking out between the throttle shaft and the body. I guess the bushings for the shaft are badly worn... Other than that it works fine. Could always get a kit and rebuild it, but the leakage would still be there... :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> All of these rebuilders claim that they put new bushings in the carburetors they rebuild. If I go with one of these I'd like to get one that's been rebuilt in the US.

You should be fine with a re-built...

However., a carb can't leak per-se' unless it's cracked internally.

A faulty needle & seat &/or a "too high" float setting will do as you describe as well.

Liquid fuel never meets that shaft, while running or at rest. And that shaft is not air tight.

Even a new carb. would seep fuel out there if the fuel bowl settings were incorrect or faulty.

Hope all's well there 'cross the pond., & do post your decision/results.
