First time post. 2nd time Bronco owner. I have been searching high and low for more information about my truck. I have a '88 Bronco XLT with 351 5.8l Windsor. Just want to know what parts came stock on this model and such...specs specs specs...cant find anything. Please shoot me links if you have them on all the specs of this truck. Thanks again!!

made a mistake 15 years ago by telling someone to use the Driver's side label to ID their Rear Differential (axle, pumpkin type, etc.); turned out that a previous owner had swapped a Dana 60 in place of the stock 8.8
so... a run down;

Excerpts;

Photo 1 - The 9” rear ends have a removable “hog-head” center carrier and is about 10” from the bottom to the top stud. The 9” was introduced in 1957 and ran to mid 80's.

Photo 3 - 8.8” rear’s have a ten bolt inspection plate on the back that’s about 10” from the center of the top bolt to the bottom bolt center. The 8.8” first saw service in the 79 Crown Vic. and in 1980 for the F100/150. 

Photo 7 - The 10.25" used on some Light duty F250 and Heavy duty F150's, 12 bolts on cover and top to bottom bolts are about 11 5/8" apart.

Dana 44 use as front axle on 4x4's also as rear axles on some late 70 F100's. Has 10 bolts, normally has a fill plug on the cover and top to bottom bolt head centers are about 9 1/4". 

Axle Codes, Bronco, Rear from 85 & 90 Owner's Manuals; Now go get your owner's manual, it usually comes w/the truck and says "Owner's Manual" or similar in english on the cover. ******* I already hear your whining, "I lost my owner's manual. Stop. Helm Publishing will be happy to sell you a new one, and even if you're an experienced gearhead the owner's manual makes good bedtime reading. It'll tell you stuff like fluid capacities, towing capacities (ever wonder exactly how much tongue weight that stock step bumper is rated at??), and all sorts of other cool stuff. So stop the whining and click http://www.helminc.com. Now, here's the combined codes from 85 and 90 Bronco owner's manuals; this should cover most if not all codes out there: REGULAR: (Regular means "open" diff in this context) 13 4.11 14 3.00 16 3.50 18 3.08 19 3.55 LIMITED SLIP: H3 4.11 H4 3.00 H5 4.10 H6 3.50 H8 3.08 H9 3.55 If you have 3 digits on your axle code the first two digits are the rear axle code. Thus, looking at my pics above and cross-referencing the chart above my '90 came from the factory w/3.55's and Ford's sorry excuse for a limited slip differential, the Crap-Lok, er I mean Trak-Lok. Now, to know if the front diff is open or limited slip I'm ass-uming you have to look for a tag on the diff, as there is no "front axle code" on the door jamb sticker..." Miesk5 Note, I'll add that the axle code for some years (Maybe all ) adds a 2 after the limited slip code if the front is also limited slip. So the code "H9" is a 3.55:1 limited slip rear axle only. TRANSMISSION, Automatic
AOD - E4OD Identification;
If the shifter has a P-R-N-OD-D-1 pattern, the transmission must be an AOD (applicable to 1980-1993 vehicles).
If a 1989-1993 truck has an Overdrive Cancel Switch and a P-R-N-OD-2-1 shifter pattern, then it is equipped with an E4OD transmission

You can measure the transmission fluid pan to determine which transmission you have if identification information is not available. A 4R70W transmission pan has an overall length of just under 15 inches, while an E4OD pan is much larger, measuring about 20 inches in overall length.-

Basing on this;

Build Sheet Location Synopsis; Locations vary because it depended upon who threw it in the Bronco on the production line vs. those who took time to place it same place for 18 years: "...under the driver's or passenger side carpet, in the fiberglass top hidden behind the rear trim piece, driver's side in a 79 by Ziggy; under my carpet on the right side in the back in a 92 by M. Also see my site for the PAINT CODE from the jamb label; such as,
Paint Color Code Location, Bronco, 85-96; "...1985 and Newer is on the driver door. There will be a white sticker. Towards the bottom of the sticker in the left hand corner it will say paint. This is decieving because underneath of the word paint is the body style code. What you want is the 2 digits or letters above the word paint..."

But many, especially Seabronco, Justshootme84, BroncoJoe, Roadkill, Broncoholics, BLADE262US, Broncobill78, and (I know I missed someone and that isn't good).... quite a few others have set the path for folks to DIY here. Including all the people who did the jobs and posted the info on the www so I could gather it into my site.

I forgot to add that you should begin with the door jamb label, VIN & the Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) Decal

Get the VECI On-Line for Free at Ford.

Click "Quick Guides" in left panel;

Scroll to & CLICK VECI Labels "Provides Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI)

Enter applicable info (need to know your Calibration number from your driver's side B-pillar sticker). It is a diff sticker from the door jamb label. Vacuum Diagram is the same as the one on the core support or hood or air filter cover. Also contains Emission Parts List; for 88 & UP
