I have a 1985 351 full size bronco. Everytime i go to use the tailgate switch on the dash, it continues to blow a fuse. Anyone ever have this problem? If so, please let me know if there is a way to fix this problem. About to replace the tailgate and cannot get the window to go down. Thanks in advance.

hey man read the thread below this one, so you can get the window down
and it keeps blowing cause of a dead short most likely, need to get a multimeter on it to check

/emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> but i'm done nowso....back to your issue, if you get a multimeter and set it on ohms you need to read it from ground to your hot
start at the fuse block where she's blowing and your good solid ground, black on ground and red to the pins. if it's
popping when you throw the switch it should be on the load side of the pins, which should be the bottom set, then using
process of illumination go to you switch and move your way to the back. if you go to steve83's link http://www.supermotors.net/registry/2742/12689 it should get you there, i know w/o his pages i'd be lost a@ times
of coarse all this is based on the fact your looking to fix the problem :huh:
just keep checking ground to hot at all your connection points and it should help you find your white elephant

I'm sure that could be a possibility if it's a hot. do you have a test light? if so cap or tape off the wire and see if she's hot
what color is the wire? do you have both ends? if so, repair it and go for broke right? check the schematic for color

ok, just cap it off or tape which ever and continue tomorrow maybe and if you need to do it tonight go to wal-mart and get a test light for around 5.oo, i'm sure it's from your fuse block back. i'll look more into it to see if i can find more on it

The wire is white and can't seem to find where the wire had broken off from.
sure it not white w/ a black strip? if it is , is the fuse to the key switch good?
look, it's after eleven here, if i don't stop now i'll be hunting this all night

have thought about running a couple jumpers to the motor, just to make sure it is good?
it could be shorting out inside the motor
if you do it inside the t/g please watch your fingers
