i have a 77 with a c4 auto trans. my reverse lights are not working. i found the neutral safety switch on the side of the trans. it looks like the wires or wire was cut. it seemed to only have one wire coming from the nss. i was wondering where does the wires go to after it leaves the transmission area? Im going to order a new saftey switch but im not sure where to plug it in to after i mount it to the side of the trans.

Thanks, joe

joe i believe you are going to get a NSS with 4 wires on it. two of the wires will be used for the nuetral safety switch and two will be for the back up lights.

the colors may not be right on this but the switch terminals should be. the NSS switch wires should be open in any gear and should have continuity in nuetral and park. one of the wires needs to be connected to the start terminal of the ignition switch the other needs to be connected to the start terminal of the starter solenoid this way it can only be started in neutral or park.

the other two wires should be open in all gears except reverse. one wire needs to be connected to ignition run power and the other wire should go to the reverse lights.

does any of this help? i have a bronco with a NSS too but it is dark out and raining if this doesnt make sense let me know and ill take a look for you on my truck when its light out/ dry
