I would like to convert one of my 2 Bronco's to 2wd, so I can drop it and make a roadster out of it. I am wondering which model of F-series I would use (150, 250, etc) and if there are any suspension mounting issues between the different types of trucks. I know I will need a different driveshaft. I will have one fabricated, no problem. If anyone has any suggestions as to how this should be done, that would be great. The patient is a 1990 Bronco custom with the 4sp aod and 351w. >:)

Good luck with this. I would like to find another Bronco and do the same kind of thing. My thoughts were to basically put an F-150 2wd front end under one, use a 2wd trans and dump it in the weeds. I have been wanting to take a ride to a wrecking yard and check out a 2wd truck to see how much fab would have to be done but I dont feel it should be too much.

I am in the process of converting my '94 EB to Lightning 2WD front end.. putting the parts together now.. have the axles, springs, shocks and hubs plus the rear shackles.. the steering gear is mostly the same.. definitely keep the Bronc sway bars.. the E4OD and driveshaft are the biggest hangups since I had my tranny rebuilt recently $$$.. there have been a bunch of them done by the crew on www.nloc.net in fact theres a post (Look new toy/daily driver) running right now on some that have been finished.. may want to do a search there.. good luck

All of the F150 2 wh drive front end parts will bolt right in you need the axle drop brackets that bolt to the frams they are different than the 4x4 ones . The rear end you will have to make sure what ever lowering parts you get are for 3 inch wide springs as the 2 wheelers are 2.5 inch wide springs . Everything in the front will be a direct bolt in no fab work :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I don't like the idea of a 2wd lowered bronco, I saw one 79 and to me it just looked stupid, but to each their own. I would say why not just keep the 4wd and just cut the front springs until you have the height you want, then use a camber shim to account for the angle of the front tire. thats what I would try first, and see how low you can get it before you have issues. and dropping the back would be as easy as flipping the axle over the leaf spring.

i agree with blade its a bolt in affair(from the ones ive looked at) but dropping it on top of that will be fun. Im dropping a 71f100 right now and had to buy some drop beams up front. Im not sure of the feasibility but one of the guys on the forum with a 69 use an 05 crown vic front end. Its a lot more fab work obviously but he got a 5" drop out of the deal..

im not sure what your budget is for the project but the 4" drop on the f100 was about a grand for a 3/4 drop with beams, and shackles. you can save a little money by doing an axle flip in the rear but i dont know how the speed sensor would handle that.
