shift linkage removal

auto trans and need to find out how to undo the linkage so I can remove the steering column

You can disconnect the tranny linkage right at the C6, or higher up closer to the column. I unbolted mine at the adjustment spot on the upper linkage, where it's slotted on the end. IF you need to unhook the shift indicator cable, you need to pull the cover off the stering wheel. There's a small ***** on the bottom that holds the plastic collar together. Once that's removed, you should see a small ***** holding a tab where the cable ties to. Carefully remove the looped end of the cable from the shift indicator. I think the haynes manual has a few pics and instructions on removing the column, too. JSM84

is there a way to unhook it from the steering column so I can pull the column out

the arm that comes off the column hooks to the trans linkage and I dont see any bolts holding that together, is it pressed in there?
