is there anyway to mount a winch without cutting threw the front bumper?

do they make plates that bolt right to the frame?

if so where?

thanks in advance

Gosh Man, I don't recall ever seeing one. There really sisn't any practical way to do it with a stock bumper and no cutting. The winch really needs a secure mount and yo generally have two ways to go with that.either opt for a winch bumper which will *replace* the front bumper and incorperates a mounting plate into the bumper itself or to modify the stock bumper to acept a mounting plate behind it for the winch.

Here is a pretty detailed writeup for that type of installation on Bossind's truck. There are a lot of pictures, so it may take a while to load if you're on a dial up connection.

hey toppless winchs are really cool . did you know that if you were stuck somewhere and there was nothing to attach the winch to you can use a boat anchor . thats right . pull the line out attach the anchor and and it will dig into the dirt and pull you out . i seen it done.. .as for not cutting the bumper you can do what the forrest rangers do they modify a plate and some rail s and attach the winch on the steel plate in front of the bumper..it looks cool too

Here's another thought. If you don't want to hack up the front bumper you can always install a front mounted receiver hitch instead. You can get a winch mounting plate that's removable and slides into the receiver. This way if you have a standard rear receiver then you can swap the winch from front to back as the situation dictates. You only have to buy the one winch & mount and with some of the front mounts you won't have to hack-up your bumper. The bonus plan here is that with a front receiver you can also use it to mount other things like bike racks & cargo platforms when you're not winching. Here's a few links for front receivers and winch mounts:
