My fuel gauge has never worked in my 76. There are 2 posts coming off the top of the sender and 2 posts on the back go the gauge. Does anyone know how they are supposed to be wired? I have a new fuel sender on the bench and want to test with it prior to trying to figure out the issue in the harness, or possibly just run new wires. Thx

Hi scrub,

It's pretty straight forward. (but, I assume you have dual tanks.?)

As you see, the sender is an adjustable resistor (as the float moves up-n-down). That post runs forward to the gauge.

--The other post runs to ground.--

The wire fr. the tank(s) run (to the switch if dual thanks) to the gauge post.

12V runs to the gauge cluster & is DROPPED to 5-6V by a mini volvage regulator attached to the back of the gauge cluster. Do not try to operate W/O this regulator.

The regulator also feeds the temp & oil pres. gauge.
