100_0663.jpgHi all. question 6. Vehicle info in my signatue.

I have a wire harness that has about 5 or 6 plugs along its length and ends with a red plug that has 3 wires going into it. I know that this harness goes through the firewall to the computer. Are all of these unconnected plugs for emissions hook up? I won't ask where each of these plugs get hooked to, that I can find out through a wiring diagram. If anyone of you has a wiring diagram for the computer that you could post or email me that would be great. ( my email: [email protected])

Thats all for now and many, many, many thanks to all of you that have helped me and will continue to help me get all the emissions back to near factory and all the questions I will have in the future.

Thanks again, Bill

The computer was probably removed or deactivated on your engine because it no longer has a stock carb. From the picture you have posted, it looks like you have a Holley 4160 which doesn't use computer inputs like the original carb did. The ECA Electronic Control Assembly and Throttle Kicker Module have probably been either removed or made inactive. I'm going to photograph the EVTM pages for your engine so you can see what I'm talking about in regard to two computers. those plugs in the engine compartment hooked to various emissions devices which apparently have been removed.

Attached are the pages for the 4.9L engine.

Hi seabronc. the computer is there and I don't know for sure but I don't think it was disabled because the distributer electrical advance is hooked into the harness going to the computer. If the cpu was dissabled then the dist. advance would not work. Am I correct in this statement? The bronco ran perfectly fine 10 years ago, it was driven on the hiways of hawaii and california.

I don't know what system you have on it, probably an EEC ignition, but you are probably correct. However, there are obviously a lot of functions that are unhooked which may not effect the ignition with an old computer or whoever removed them has done something to make the computer happy. I'll add some more pages from the EVTM on the EEC tonight.

Here are some more EVTM pages for the I6. Ignore the references to Duraspark II as yours was a California truck and they used EEC. That is why your distributor doesn't have a vacuum advance and the coil you were asking about.

Good luck,

:)>-
