i have a leak coming from the weild sheild molding on the top

the idea is to pull off the chrome molding clean off the rust and **** it up so it no longer will leak

the question is does anyone know that if pull that triming off will it be able to go back on or do i need to buy a new one

and also how is it held on are they clips or is it like glued on?

Well from my experience of having to replace the wiper motor, it is a mother to deal with. It bends pretty easy and is hard to get back straight. It basically slides together and then yes it clips in, your best bet is to buy new and just replace it that way you can just rip it off and not sweat it. Wait till you see how much crum is under it down by the vent/cowl piece too. If you want I currently have some ripped off of my donor bronco and I can send you a picture of what it looks like if that will help.

Ditto to the response by Broncojeff. I managed to crack my windshield while removing the trim, so be careful not to put any pressure on the edge of the window. If you hear a tick sound which is the sound of chipping the edge, it is all over. A crack will soon follow. You can stop a crack by using a diamond drill bit and drilling through the first layer of glass at the very end of the crack that is forming. Then fill the hole with clear coat or anything to keep moisture out of the hole.

Good luck,

Ok the two pictures arent the greatest but they will give you the point basically. As you can see they slide together and on the back they are basically like a curved clip that when pushed down they pop into place. Good Luck, if you need anymore help let me know. :D

Easy question, BAD juju, the easy answer is you pay a local shop to do it, that way if they crack the windshield it's THEIR gig not yours and you're guaranteed that you get the leak taken care of. Windshields are a bitch, if you have a leak it can turn into a nightmare before you realize it's happened. There just ISN'T any caulking it and being done with the problem. If it's leaking then there's a problem with the sealant and you *aren't* going to fix that with all the caulk in the world, better to have it taken out, cleaned & reinstalled. Unfortunately removing a windshield carries with it a reasonable risk of cracking it. I would REALLY suggest letting a professional shop do the work.
