If it hasnt been changed out there an easy way to tell the difference without even getting out of the truck , An E4OD stands for electronic 4 speed over drive . An AOD stands for automatic over drive . An E4OD being electronic has an overdrive cancel option that in 91 was located on the dash on the right side directly in front of the shifter and from 92 and up the overdrive cancel switch is located in the very end of the shifter so yours being a 92 you should have a button in the end of your shifter and AOD does not have this option . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

An AOD is a 14 bolt and an E4OD is a 20 bolt on the pan. Take a pic of the tranny pan and we can tell you what it is.

After clearing out all the caked on mud from my transmission, I discovered I had a 20 bolt pan which then I have a E4OD. Now my next question is....is the filter in the pan hard to get out? I never done a transmission filter change. I would take it to the shop but i would like to save some money if i can do it myself.

thank you

Take out the rear bolts of the pan and loosen the front bolt. Keep a fluid catcher under the tranny. Pull the pan off slowly not to leak t-fluid all over and dump the rest out. Keeping the fluid catcher under the tranny, pull off the filter and replace. After you get everything buttoned back up I would raplace one quart of t-fluid with Lucas.
