i've been reading and hearing alot about the C6. most of the trucks i've read about have one. is it that much better? i know it doesn't have overdrive. does that make difference in performance vs. fuel economy? both my broncos have the overdrive button in the end of the shifter handle. i've already rebuilt one of them and it hurt the wallet. my other truck is still going with over 162k and eventually its going so if the C6 is an upgrade i want to know. its a 95 and lift kit is planned.

Stick with your E4OD. The C6 is one of the stongest trans Ford made before overdrive, but you need the OD in the bronco. I have the C6 in mine, and my buddy has the E4OD, he consistantly gets 5-10 miles per gallon better than me.

Yes the E4OD is expensive to work on, but alot of it's problems are due to owner misuse. Ford recommends that the OD be turned off for city driving under 50 MPH, and during towing. Alot of people just leave the OD on always. The trans will shift into OD at 35 MPH during city cruising, this leads to torque converter slippage, and excessive heat buildup.

I believe Ford should have made the switch so that you have to turn the OD on, instead of off. If you've noticed, the OD automatically comes on every time you start the truck.

The OD trannies are better now all bugs are worked out. If you use your Bronco for everyday driving and such stick with the OD even though $$ rebuilds you'll gain back in MPG savings. If it's a mainly used as an offroad pounder then go with the C6.

thanks for the info. i'll stick with what i've got. but if i come across a C6 i'll grab it because my trucks won't be highway drivers forever. which is just fine with me.
