I need new rims asap.....but i cant afford tires too at the moment. My question is....if I go ahead and buy rims 15x10 5x5.5 can I run my 31x10.5 tires on them for a while until I can afford to upgrade my tires. The truck does no long distance traveling and is not in the mud right now. Or will the tires not spread across a 10 inch wide rim?

thanks

All tire manufacturers recommend a 7-9 inch rim for 31X10.5 tires. Using wider rims can be unsafe and the tires will tend to have slow leaks aroung the bead. By not following manufacturers specs, you run into a major liability issue if you pop a bead and cause an accident.

Some manufacturers offer 31x11.5" wide tires, these spec a 8-10 inch rim.

I only use the truck to basically go to the end of our road to get the kids on and off the bus in it. It has rims on it that dont belong...I bought it like that...they are aftermarket and have been forced to fit. I need to get acceptable rims on it so that front end work can be done on the truck. My mechanic wont consider going over my tierods and pitman arm, bearings etc until I get rims that actually fit the truck. So my furthes drive on them would be 3 miles to his shop...lol

I just dont want to have to buy a set of 8 wide then get my front end straightened out then have to turn around and buy the 10 nch wide ones I want.
