OK heres what i got...89 bronco..4:10 posi rears rolling on 38's with 11 inches of lift...aod tranny and it had a 302 that blew..so i put a used 351 in it..i am getting a reman engine rather than building one cuz i just so happen to have the money so i have the setups for an efi 302 and efi 351...im having trouble deciding what engine to get 302 or 351...i was happy with it when it had the 302, it did move pretty good and has excellent power in low range and offroad...so my question is basically what would YOU do..i kno gas mileage is about the same and all, and i kno its really my choice...but i just wanted the opinions of others and also i have a heavy foot and kno a 302 can take abuse so can a 351 also???

my 351 has about 120k on it and i've had it for about 4 years or 50k miles. i've really never been nice to it while driving it but i do change the oil every 2500 miles. when i tore down the engine about 4 weeks ago it was in perfect condition i was just tired of seeing the rusted oil pan, leaking rearmain, and the exhaust leak at the manifold. so i decided to just pull the engine out to make life more easy on me do do theese things. (plus i installed the performance cam to get some more touque out of it). so in this reguard i'd say that the 351 is better than the 5.0 but that is my 2-cents.

they both have their ups and downs and it's your choice on what you want to do. if you think about it a 5.0 has less power than a 5.8 so it hasto do more work to get the same job than a 351 will do.

good luck on what you decide to do but the 351 i feel is the best way to go besides dropping in a 460 @-)

I would say with such minor differences in the 2 I would choose the 351 without doubt , Alot of people spend alot of money to strke a 302 to a 347 . Doesnt cost anymore to rebuild a 351 than a 302 so I would say your absolute best bet would be the 351W :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I will never build another 302

i cant remember the model no. on my muffler, but i think it has a nice rumble. it holds until i get enough cash for a dual system. i'll check the model no. as soon as i get the chance. i know it goes at about 3,000 at 45 mph. a gear stripped in my tranny while shifting into second. decided to rebuild it while i was repairing it.

I've always known the 302 as a Mustang motor and a 351 as a Bronco/F-150 motor. I like my 351, it has good pick up in my opinion and I'm not worried about gas millage. (when you get 7-8MPG you tend to pump the gas untill it stops without looking at the price) b-(
