i belive all you need to do is go to the parts store and the sell a kit that converts them but you still have to get the new hubs too.get the warn premiums there awsome!

This is a good discussion about converting to manual hubs.

The first post links to the purchase price at broncograveyard for warn premiums.

A good thread advicing to go with the premiums.

Hey thanks yall. i really appreciate all the help.
You may be able to do it cheaper on ebay (not likely though), but the folks at Jeff's Bronco Graveyard are tops to work with. I give them as much business as I can.

Here's the link for all the parts you'll be installing.

It includes the Warn Premiums and also the spindle nut kit that you need.

You'll need a torque wrench capable of applying 150 ft lbs. You'll also need a spindle nut socket to put the new spindle nuts on. It's a must. You'll also need it in the future to replace / repack your front bearings if necessary.

Here's a link to a thread that I participated in. Meisk5 is the man. He knows all. I'd HIGHLY advise looking through the links that he has posted in that thread. They'll help you a lot. The instructions that come with the hubs make perfect sense now that I've done it, but they didn't at first. I'd also recommend renting a spindle nut socket kit from autozone or somewhere similar to help remove the factory spindle nut that you'll be replacing. Don't buy one because you'll probably never get to use it again.

Also at the end of that thread, I have a pic of some probes that I picked up to help with the swap. They were USA made, only $10 and saved me hours of swearing. They are quite handy to have around.

Good luck, you'll learn lots about your Bronco's front end doing the swap. I did.

On second thought, if you don't want to purchase the spindle nut socket that I linked to above, you can probably get it on loan from autozone as well. The one I linked to is only $15, USA made, and will be pretty handy to have around though if you can swing it.

I'm pretty sure that question came up and was answered in the first thread I posted for you, and if I recall correctly, it depended upon whether there were four or five screws holding the faceplate of the hub on.

blkstang2002, the Warn hubs on the 82 should be the same as what you get for your 96. Be sure that your conversion kit from the 3-***** 96 hubs matches up to the hubs in the 82, which should be 5-***** like my 84. JSM84
