Just bought a water pump for my 93 Bronco. Seeing i have never done this before how hard is it to change? Are there any tips you guys have for changing it? How long should it take me?

Thanks

Ben

Just the water pump? Not to hard, is it the 351 or 302? Either way it's not to hard, You'll have to pull the fan and shroud together to keep from messing anything up. Also be carefull taking out the bolts, sometimes they like to get cruddy and brake. You'll also have to take off the driver side accesories since they go on on of the bolts. Two or three of the bolts can only get gotten with a DEEP socket or wrench. A hand full of the bolts also go threw the timing cover and into the block. All in all it's not hard, two hours if you take your time and do it right. Maybe less?

yeah, keep track of where each bolt goes, since some are different length. Might want to refernce a Haynes or Chilton's manual for more info, JSM84

Also, if you have a digital camera or camera phone you may want to take some pictures before you get started incase you forget something you can refer back to them.

You may need to use an "Easy-Out" bolt extractor if the head is broke off.

If it's one of the longer bolts that go to the block you can get a pully puller and pull off your balancer and take off the whole timing cover. Once you do that hit it with a good penetraiting lubricant and you can get vice grips on it. If it's one of the top three, drill it out and hila coil (is that right?) the thing. I've done that on mine. Any other bolts just look at it carfully and if you can drill it out and put the hila coil in it that's great or if you can pull the timing cover off that's great to or you can try an easy out. I prefer the one's that are square over the ones that look like a goofy reverse drillbit but that's personal preferance there.
