Hi Guys, new to the forum here.  My Dad and I are restoring my 72' Bronco which has a 1969 351W (C90E-6015) engine.  We're doing a full engine rebuild, and in the process, replaced the water pump.  Our new pump came in and we installed it just fine, UNTIL we went to put the water pump pulley on and realized there was a tolerance issue between the crank pulley and WP pulley.  It simply won't go on without interference.  We took a look at our OLD water pump and saw the Radiator Hose outlet was located on the driver side.  Our NEW Water pump from WildHorses (P# 5015) has the Radiator Hose located on the Passenger side.  I can't figure out whats going on. The engine is utilizes a regular rotation, not a reverse rotation (serpentine).

What's  going on here?  Why would our WP pulley not align? Do we have the wrong pump installed?  We'd like to avoid dismanteling and putting in a new pump if at all possible.

Help!

Hi Dan.., welcome..!

To me, the obvious questions would be; was this/did you see this eng. runn'n..?  And, what did it come out of.?

The water pump you got from WH is the correct one for a stock early small block Ford. (not serp.)

Seems someone made some water pump & pulley mods for some reason.

And, it sounds like you didn't disassemble these items during engine work or you would have noticed

this problem then.

Also.., the radiator won't work if it, (eng.) in fact, came with a radiator.

My guess would be you have the wrong pulley(s)

Ran across some pics of small block front views & it appears there's a dual sheave pulley on

the crank.  The inboard sheave being smaller & in-line with the water pump pulley.., allowing clearance.

The outboard sheave is out in front of the water pump sheave.

BUT.., don't quote me on this.., hard to tell in pics.

Someone may chime-in with a like setup as yours.... :-B
