I have a 88 with a 302. The first start of the day is wonderful. Once the engine gets to normal operating temperature, the engine will not restart. It makes a sound like the battery is weak. If I jump it, it starts. New battery, new alternator, new starter solenoid, new starter. Any suggestions?

Remove and clean all connections from battery to starter an especially the ground cable from the battery to the engine block. You could have a bad connection, cable or terminal lug connection to cable.

Good luck,

:)>-

prolly overheating your starter... check the exhaust manifold for cracks above the starter, mine has the same problem... my exhaust mainfold is broken in two though... if not, try a heat shield.

Check the battery with the volt meter while the engine is runing. You should get 13.5 to 14 volts. If you get that the alternator is fine.Resized_Captured_2005_1_31_00186.jpg

Did you already get a new battery alternator ect... or are you asking if you need one? Could be that you need to clean the battery connection cables, ground wires. Also all wires that connect to the starter and starter solenoid.Resized_Captured_2005_1_31_00181.jpg
