Can someone give me an idea on how to wire a volt guage and an amp guage. I have an idea but want to make sure I am doing it right

A voltage gague is connected with oneside on the + and the other on ground(-). In would suggest that you connect it close to or right at the battery so you can get the best reading on what your battery condition is as well as your alternator output.
The amp meter requires a shunt hookup and should also be located near the battery. The shunt allows most of the current to pass thru it while a small porportional amount goes thru the meter. That is the way the standard amp meter is connected on the Broncos.
