The brakes in my Bronco have been serviced recently and are in good shape, however before and after changing pads and shoes etc... I have noticed a vibration in the front end while braking. The streering wheel shakes and the vibrations make the dashboard jump. Does anyone have any suggestions to what might be causing this?

One possibility is warped brake rotors. It often happens when some gorilla with an impact gun over-tightens the lugnuts at the tire shop. JSM84

Did the front rotors get turned during the brake job? If not they might be warped and that will make the from end vibrate when the brakes are applied.

Does the vibration seem to change as you slow down? If it is the rotors it will be a rapid vibration and as you slow the vibration or grabbing will be further apart. In other words the vibrations will be closer together the faster you go and will become further apart as you slow.

It usually is a one to one vibration. Meaning that every rotation of the tires is followed by a grabbing feeling of the brakes as the warped portion of the rotor passes through the brake caliper.

Red,

I was getting a similiar vibration in the front end when braking. Not when braking hard, but when my foot was resting on the brake pedal going down hill or approaching a red light or stop sign. I put the truck up and found that the bushings from the suspension support (i don't know what it's called, but I'll describe it) were shot. There is a support that goes from the suspension back to the frame, almost directly under the firewall. Where the support is mounted, there are a series of bushings, washers and a cup washer that holds it in place. Everything was shot and causing a vibration, and also causing the truck to ride loose. It is actually getting repaired today. just the washers and bolts and and everthing are about 80 bucks per side. Check them out, just a thought.

I think what Blade is talking about are the Radius Arm bushings. Had to replace mine when I first got my 93 Bronco.
