Ok, so I am looking for new valve covers for my bronco. I was wondering what the difference is between baffled and non-baffled valve covers. Which one is better and why?

Thanks

A "baffle" is a shield or plate that deflects the splashing oil from the rockers, and may help with venting if you're running open breathers. Not a big diff on stock engines, and even my stock covers had a baffle. You can get some nice Edelbrock Elite series covers and paint'em to match or run with a matching air cleaner, or just clean up and paint the old ones with engine paint, JSM84

I was trying to remove the brackets on my old ones and put a hole in one of them. I live about an hour away from summit racing in sparks so I can pick up a decent pair there. I just was not sure which ones to get. thanks for the info.

I bought a set from Summit for about $50. Chrome valve covers, air cleaner, and chrome hold-downs for the covers. the hold-downs spread the load alot better than the regular bolt, which helps cut down on leaks. I ran those for a couple years, and they're still running on the heads I sold to another Bronco owner.

since the topic is up can you use the covers from a carbed engine with a EFI engine or it the ontake in the way

I have a great looking set of 2 piece aluminum tall covers from a mustang and not sure if they will fit on the right side head and just one would be dumb as heck
