So, lately I've been having a very annoying problem with my Bronco and I just can't seem to figure out what to do with it. Sometimes it will start and run fine for a short while, but then all of a sudden it will completely die and stall out on me. When this happens it just doesn't want to start again. The engine turns over fine but it sounds and acts like the engine just isn't getting any gas at all. I can hear the fuel pump come on when I turn the key and I put on a brand new fuel filter but it didn't help. The pump is sending the gas through the line and through the filter, but it's still like the engine itself just isn't receiving it at all.

The other day I was stranded for a few hours but was finally able to get it started... but have no clue how. It wasn't anything I did, I don't think. I was able to drive it home, (about 4 miles), with no problems. When I got in the driveway though I revved the engine once, it backfired then stalled out and then wouldn't start again. This problem has been happening more and more lately.

The same thing happened today again and I've noticed that the truck seems to run perfectly fine up until it gets to its usual operating temperature. (Temerature gauge straight up and down) Once the truck gets hot is when the problems start. It just dies out completely and pretty much refuses to start again until it's cooled down sufficiently. It will turn over with no problem, but doesn't seem to get any gas. Sometimes it will start for a few seconds but as soon as I try to drive it it acts like the gas gets cut off then it just dies again.

Any help or advice on what I should look at, test or change would be greatly appreciated. Though, admittedly I'm not very mechanically inclined and I don't have all the tools and items needed to run most of the tests. Any advice for me should probably be put in the simplest layman's terms for me to have any chance of understanding. I feel so stupid about this kind of stuff. heh

Anyway, the truck itself is a 1990 Bronco EB, Full Size, with a 5.8 liter V8 351w engine.

I have used the "paper clip" method to get the codes and these are what I get.. though I've gotten these same codes since I bought the truck and this problem is fairly recent...

14: Two or more successive erratic Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) pulses occurred, resulting in a possible engine miss or stall.

18: IDM circuit failure or SPOUT circuit grounded.

87: (KOEO) Fuel pump primary circuit failure. When the FP relay was activated by the EEC, voltage was not detected on the control circuit.

& (CM) Voltage was not detected on Fuel Pump Monitor while the engine was running.

33: EGR valve opening not detected.

So far I've been told it may be anything from a bad TFI Module to a Fuel Pump Relay to needing a new Fuel Pump altogether. If anyone else has any thoughts on this I would love to hear them as I'm just trying to get some sort of concensus on what it may be before I go replacing parts, as I'm a bit short on cash at the moment.

Thanks for your time.

C.
