Truck shakin durin brakin

Ok so it started out just a clicking in the front end that stoped when i hit the brakes. Well the clicking went away. Then the front brakes started to squeel when the brake was applied. Now when i slow down from any speed the truck startes shaking really bad. It kind of lurches from front to rear when applying the brakes. It is really bad at highway speeds. And you can feel the brake pedal pulsing a little. I just wanted some of your views before i tore into the front end.

I think that the drums are out of round, that could be part of the problem. The rotors are probably warped again. My calipers on the front were cracked in half when i changed them last. And the rotors were really warped. I am tired of dealing with this. Any good solutions? Anything else that could be wrong that i'm not seeing? What could be the reason for calipers cracking in half?

Sounds like the pads are worn out causing heat and worping the rotors and drums. Better take a look fast you could be metal to metal. At any rate you will proabably need to replace the pads, drums and rotors.

If they are warped dont stop so fast, let the car in front of you stop you thats what they are there for :-& #036; . Try getting some cross drilled vented rotors a priemium brake pad and bleeding the lines very well. If you drive with a foot on the brake and one on the gas break that habit, thats all I can think of

I'm not in disagreement with any of my fellow Bronco lovers here. A cracked caliper, no matter what caused it, should be replaced immediately. When you were hearing the squealing, that was the brake pad wear-down indicators telling you its due for new pads. They just don't last forever like we'd all like them to.

When running with uneven pads or metal to metal, you're going to chew up your rotors. Pull them and take them to a shop to see if they can be turned first...if not, go with the cross drilled/vented rotors and a set of ceramic or kevlar pads. Make sure to get new calipers for left and right, if you want to do it correctly...and you might as well replace the brake lines while you're doing it all. To bleed the brake system, get a couple of BIG cans of brake fluid, a bucket, a piece of hose just large enough to fit over the bleeder valve, a wrench that fits the bleeder valve, and a buddy to push the pedal in while you bleed the system. Shoot the old fluid into the bucket. I say use a couple of big cans of fluid, because there are probably some particles/dirt/junk in the lines and you can bleed ALL the fluid out of the system and replace with new for cheap. You'll want to bleed both front and back. Working one side at a time. Keep pouring fluid into resevoir as the fluid level goes down.

It sounds like a lot of work, but really it's about an hour, hour and a half job. The toughest part is replacing the rotors and calipers. Hope this helps some.

check the rotors and drums. Also check the abs until and bleed the system for air, you might just as well do everything with the brakes, they will save your life.

[-X DO NOT USE DRILLED ROTORS [-X it has been my experiance that drilled rotors in trucks because they weigh so much causes "stress cracks" between the drilled holes. i reccomend useing a rotor that is slotted to release the gases caused by the brakes when being applyed. and if u can, use oem calipers. might cost more but will last longer. and oem pads as well :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

yeah i got to agree with these guys i had major problems with brakes in my ranger get good brake pads otheriwse youll end up paying for it its always good to check your brake pads every once in a while it only takes like 5 - 10 min to do and itll keep you from having to change rotors every time because waiting for the metal on metal does major damage and also make sure you put the pads on right i had a problem where one pad wasnt figure 8 properly and so while one pad wore down the other one didnt and caused me to have to change my rotor again and my brake pads alot earlier than expected
