I'm roll bar shopping and there are bolt in models for '80 - '91, but nothing for later. I know you can't get soft tops for later broncos cuz of the center brake light, but they work anyway; you just lose that oh-so-important safety feature. Now, is it the same deal for roll bars? A trim issue? If so, anyone have experience on how major a trim issue?

Any tips at all on sticking a simple bar in a '96xlt? Any manufacturers make them besides Smittybuilt? (I don't want to weld unless you can also recommend an installer in Detroit area.)

Thanks!

I know the wheel well trim is the same from 87-91 to 92-96 because when I swapped front ends I reused the 89 trim on the 94 clip . The reason the push bars and that are different is because they changed the frames for the 92-96 model years so the mounting is different up there . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'm not sure what kind of differance it would make but 91 was the last year for only haveing lap belts and the shoulder belts mount on the removable top. Just a thought b-(

ok...stupid newbie question: what's "IUNO"?

Yep, Bidi--the shoulder belts as well as the brake light...anyway, I'll be keeping my top. This is Michigan after all!

I don't suppose anyone with a later Bronco and a roll bar would be able to point me in the right direction? Thanks!

o yeah.....in these parts it's "iunno". Must be a regional thing!

The rear attachment point for the shoulder belts is under some plastic that might have to move...maybe that's it.

That reminds me, IF I were you I would make it so the shoulder belts can attach to the rollbar. If you ever take your top off then you can still have rear belts thats just my 2 cents on it though.

Install of a roll bar in the 92-96 has some issue with the shoulder belts like stated, and also with the rear factory speaker grilles. You can make the rear belts a "lap-belt-only" style, and you need to remove the rear speaker covers. Bronco Graveyard has the simple roll bar for a Bronco. It's really a "show bar" unless attached to the frame in the event of an accident though.

I f you are installing a rollbar for true rollover protection a bolt in bar is NOT the way to go. For real protection it needs to be welded to the frame. As far as installers, find some one experienced with installing roll bars, such as a race car fabricater.
