Transmission Problems

I am having trouble with my current transmission. The engine is a 302 with an automatic transmission. I have recently had a 4" suspension lift and 33" tires added onto this vehicle. I primarly use this vehicle for transportation to an from work and towing my boat. What I am looking to do is improve overall towing performace without giving up highway speed and gas milage. Any suggestions on a strong transmission that is reasonbly priced and reliable?

nm i just read your other post lol 1985 right

a proper rebuild AOD trans with the correct shift kit to fit your app. should work just fine.. check with a local performance trans shop for more info..like this shift kit.... http://www.transgo.com/fordauto.html

is yours a 3 speed or a 4 speed???

3-speed =C6 trans

4-speed =AOD

I think its the AOD. It has 1st, Drive and Overdrive.

With 33's on it you probably need to change the gearing to improve the towing ability. The AOD would give you beter highway milage. Do you know what gearing your differential has now?
