Hey all,

I'm going through the rebuild process on my 4-sp CC from 1987, and I haven't ever found a proper ID on which unit it has. All signs point to a NP 435, but I don't have a casting #, so it could be a T-18, or similar. Does anyone know a site which has production figures/data? I need to fix this rig, but getting a wrong kit won't help me at all. TIA

4-sp MT with Cruise, btw.

also an article I saved says ...T18 85-93....T19, 86-87....but it also said the T18 appeared in 85 so if I have a 18 in my 81 its not stock. I think the magizine mixed up. but either way if yours is a BW it says BW

the NP435 has a 6.69:1 first gear. the T18 a 6.32 the T19 5.11

here's the easiest way to tell. pull your tunnel cover and look at the top deck on the trans. if its aluminum, i.e. silver/shiny, its a NP435. also look on the ID sticker inside your door jamb, find the transmission code, and look it up

Trans F Axle 19. Where should I look it up? I haven't found a lot of raw data on the web. (I take no blame for this, I solely blame the web on this one.)

blackfordtruck, you're better than 99% of the web!!! Thanks!

(I was really hoping for the t-series, nothing against the NP, that granny gear sounds nice, but the 6.32 runs well enough for me!)

EDIT-To get to the point, why don't we have more info like this? I go on old mustang sites for my 69 and there is all the info you could need in terms of equipment and options, can we start a database?

Truck, the moderators are working on a FAQ and links section at present. In the meantime, check the How-To & Tech Articles section for a link to "Miesk5Homepage". It has the info/links you will ever need for your 87 Bronco. My 86 has the NP435, and like stated it has an aluminum top under the shifter. It also has the "NP" logo stamped into the side of the housing. IT's hard to see when covered in mud, though!!! JSM84
