I would Like to know which transfer case is the best the 1345 or 1356 or np208 and if the 1356 and np208 is a direct hook up replacement for the1345? My 1345 needs repair and I was just wondering if it is worth it. Thanks

the 1356 is considered by many to be one of Ford's best xfer cases. It's sturdier than the 1345 or the 208 (the chain is about 25% largerthan the one on the 208) and is much lighter due to the magnesium case.

Neither one are a "direct replacement". While all Ford t-cases share the same bolt pattern, each one has a specific shifter linkage, along with different shifter locations on the floor. The NP208 shifter is in the center of the floor ***** while the BW 13-56 shifter is on the side next to your foot when on the gas pedal. JSM84

Hey JSM, didn't the 1345 have a provision for a PTO ? Might be worth keeping/rebuilding just to preserve that option or at the very least keep the old on & stick it under the workbench so it's available later on if you want/need that PTO option.

Not very much, in my opinion. Main difference will be in the gear ratio options. CHeck Novak Enterprises website for more details.
